The SEC Tournament, often characterized by Kentucky’s dominance, has witnessed notable performances from the Alabama Crimson Tide. Despite Kentucky’s overwhelming 31 titles (or 32 with a vacated win), Alabama ranks as the second-most successful SEC team with eight tournament victories. Tennessee, Florida, and Mississippi State also boast multiple wins.
Since its establishment in 1933, the SEC Tournament has held significant importance, with Alabama securing a title under coach Hank Crisp in the 1934 season. After a brief hiatus in 1935, the tournament resumed in 1936, running until 1952. It was reinstated in 1979, with Tennessee emerging as the victor.
In recent years, the tournament has predominantly been hosted at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, with this season being no exception. As one of the top contenders, Alabama is poised for a double-bye, advancing directly to the Quarterfinals on Mar. 15.
Following the SEC Championship, Alabama’s spot in the NCAA Tournament is secured, with a seeding anywhere from 2nd to 4th being possible.
