Chiesa to SJP or NOT??

For many Newcastle United fans, Federico Chiesa would be a dream signing.

The Magpies are in the market for a new winger, and the Italy international would certainly be a blockbuster arrival to play alongside Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak.

Eddie Howe is eager to sign players who can take the club to the next level, and Federico Chiesa is certainly capable of that. He is a forward who gets you on the edge of your seat, and plays with a freedom that could lead to him being adored on Tyneside.

It was reported last month that Chiesa is a player who Newcastle United could target this summer, while the Magpies have consistently been named as a possible suitor for the 26-year-old by the Italian media.

How much Juventus want for Federico Chiesa

It remains to be seen if he really is one of Newcastle‘s top targets, but he is certainly a player that is available if new sporting director Paul Mitchell decides to make a move for the Italian.

That is because Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday night that Juventus are definitely planning to sell Chiesa this summer, as he enters the final year of his contract with the Serie A giants.

Now Romano has provided a further update on Chiesa’s future, and shared how much Juve are looking to receive for the forward that has been deemed surplus to requirements.

He wrote on X: “Juventus consider price tag around €25m with add-ons included for Federico Chiesa as current deal expires in June 2025, not being extended. Juventus are prepared to sell Chiesa who’s currently not part of Thiago Motta’s plans, as confirmed yesterday.”

Chiesa is an affordable option for Newcastle United

An initial fee of €25million converts to just over £21million, which makes Chiesa a very affordable option for the Magpies to consider. Of course, a deal would also include add-ons, but it is remarkably less than what a player like Michael Olise was going to cost.

He had a £60million release clause in his Crystal Palace contract, and it was a deal that Newcastle tried to do before he decided to move to Bayern Munich instead.

Now the Magpies are looking for alternatives, but it remains unclear who their number one attacking target is.

Many Toon fans will hope that Chiesa features highly on the list, given how exciting he is. He would also provide Sandro Tonali with a friend, as the pair have played together at international level.

If Newcastle did make a move for Chiesa at around £20million, it would allow them to invest more money elsewhere in their squad. Eddie Howe is also looking to sign a right-sided centre-back, while a new striker could be on the agenda if Callum Wilson departs.

That could make Chiesa very appealing, but it remains to be seen if they are a serious contender for his signature. In truth, it would not be a surprise if Newcastle United’s name was just being used in the media to drum up interest from elsewhere, which appeared to be the case when he was linked last year.
