Manchester United look to have finally got a defensive signing over the line.
Indeed, after going all around the houses this summer, United finally seem to have got their man.
Leny Yoro has been undergoing a medical ahead of joining the Red Devils this summer, and it looks as though a move to Old Trafford is imminent.
Interestingly, this may not be the end of United’s business in this position.
According to Dharmesh Sheth, speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast, United may still be in the market for another defender in this window, claiming that he’s been told both Jarrad Branthwaite and Matthijs De Ligt remain as options.
Manchester United still in for Jarrad Branthwaite
Sheth shared what he knows about United and the Everton defender.
“You mention the potential with Yoro, he’s 18 years old, and with that in mind, we’re also told that Jarrad Branthwaite and Matthijs De Ligt remain as options for Manchester United but it will depend on squad space and budget as the window evolves,” Sheth said.
Imagine Yoro and Branthwaite
If United can sign Branthwaite on top of Yoro, then their centre-back slots could been sorted for the next 10 years.
Make no mistake about it, these two are a pair of the most promising young centre-backs in the game today.
Of course, agreeing a fee with Everton is proving to be a serious issue, and after spending a massive amount on Yoro, it’s hard to see United meeting the Toffees’ asking price.
However as transfers at Old Trafford have shown in recent years, you can never say never when Manchester United are involved.
Branthwaite is still very much on the agenda at United, and who knows? Perhaps Erik ten Hag’s side could have a trick up their sleeve here as they look to completely overhaul their defence.
