West Ham expected to bid for defender who’s ‘probably the best in the world’ at 1v1s
West Ham United have busy in the summer transfer window and chances are they’ve got some more signings in the pipeline.
The Hammers have already signed three new players this summer, bringing in Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman.
There has also been speculation linking the Hammers to Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, Villarreal’s Alexander Sorloth and a host of other players.
Now, Dharmesh Sheth has reported that one of West Ham’s Premier League rivals are now anticipating a bid from the Hammers for one of their defenders.
Manchester United expecting West Ham bid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka
The player in question is Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, a player West Ham have admired for a long time.
TBR Football recently revealed that the Hammers have turned their attentions to the Red Devils ace after failing to reach an agreement with Southampton for Kyle Walker-Peters.
Sheth, speaking to GiveMeSport, has now claimed that Manchester United are expecting West Ham to make a bid for the player amid ongoing talks.
Although a formal offer has not gone in, this “would be the next step”, according to the Sky Sports journalist.
“One that is starting to emerge even more strongly now is Aaron Wan-Bissaka,” Sheth said.
“I’m told Manchester United are expecting a bid from West Ham. We’re told that the valuation for Wan-Bissaka is over £15million.
Talks are ongoing between the two clubs but, as yet, we’ve not been told that a formal offer has gone in. I think that would be the next step.”
Wan-Bissaka deemed ‘the best in the world’ at 1v1 defending
Wan-Bissaka made 30 appearances in all competitions last season as he helped Erik ten Hag’s side win the FA Cup.
Although the Red Devils aren’t actively looking to offload the 26-year-old, they’re open to a sale if the price is right.
Wan-Bissaka would be an outstanding acquisition for West Ham. He’s a player of the highest quality, who some peers have labelled as world-leading.
He has considerable Premier League experience and, at just 26 years of age, is only just heading into his prime.
It’s good to hear that West Ham seem to be pushing for Wan-Bissaka. Hopefully there will be a positive conclusion that will see him in claret and blue next term.
