However, it looks like the Spaniard is not finished perfecting his upgraded Hammers squad, as they are now being linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler.
Spanish news outlet Eldesmarque have reported that PSG are keen to find a solution to parting ways with the 27-year-old as he has become surplus to their requirements.
As per the report, the Irons are accelerating their pursuit of Soler and it is believed that the Ligue 1 champions would be willing to complete a deal within the realms of their valuation of £17.1m.
Not only that, Soler ranked in the top 10% of his positional peers across top five European leagues for touches and progressive passes, as well as the top 15% for assists and non-penalty goals per 90 minutes played over the last 12 months, as per FBref.
His deep-lying progressive play and commitment to getting the ball forward seem to be the biggest strengths he would offer with a move to West Ham, which would make him an ideal candidate to work in partnership with the tenacious forward line to boost goal contributions over the season ahead.
With that being said, at the price-point reported and given his experience at an elite level it would be a no-brainer for the Hammers to proceed with their pursuit of Soler this summer, as he could be an excellent asset to Lopetegui’s new look squad.
Should West Ham sign Carlos Soler?
There is no doubt that Soler would be a sensational addition to the centre of the pitch in East London and would certainly add some much-needed quality depth in a key role for the team.
Over 21 Ligue 1 appearances last season, the Spanish powerhouse scored two goals, registered two assists and tallied up an 88% pass completion rate, as well as averaging 2.3 ball recoveries, 37.7 touches and 26.9 accurate passes per appearance, despite only averaging 46 minutes per game.
