Everton make Vitor Roque transfer decision as talks accelerated at summit
Barcelona forward Vitor Roque’s future is “heating up” but Everton are yet to submit a formal bid, according to Sport 45.
The Spanish source reported [17 August] that the La Liga club’s sporting director, Deco, looked to speed up contacts with various clubs at a recent summit, contacting Sporting CP over a potential move.
It is understood that the Portuguese side are optimistic about getting a deal done, with Barcelona hoping to solve the question of Roque’s future by next week.
Everton set to miss out on Vitor Roque signing?
Despite all the recent transfer stories floating around Goodison Park about the Brazilian youngster, it seems the Evertonians have got their hopes up just to be let down.
The 19-year-old forward is one of the most exciting talents produced from the Brazilian divisions in recent seasons, though his move to Spain has been far from ideal.
Since arriving at the Nou Camp in January, Roque has made just 16 appearances in all competitions, with only two of them coming as starts in La Liga.
Despite this, he has still managed to hit the back of the net twice, so it is easy to understand the excitement around the potential signing of the Barcelona superstar.
While Sean Dyche will be pleased with his forward line heading into the new Premier League season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Beto and, Jesper Lindstrom and Iliman Ndiaye available, one more attacker wouldn’t hurt.
Goals were a primary concern for the Toffees last season, with only Sheffield United hitting the back of the net on fewer occasions, and Roque could add a new dimension to the Toffees’ final third of the pitch.
However, it looks as though they could miss out on signing the 19-year-old, especially if Sporting CP’s interest in him is to be believed this summer.
