Outgoings |West Ham stars could be sold fund Carlos Soler move

West Ham midfielders Tomas Soucek, James Ward-Prowse and others could be sold in the final few days of the transfer window in order to bring in a couple more players, including PSG midfielder Carlos Soler.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham have been in talks over a move for Soler this week. The Hammers are deep in negotiations for the midfielder who looks likely to join the club on an initial loan with an obligation to buy next summer. However, the Times suggests the club must offload players in order to bring him and anyone else in.

The most likely to leave would be Tomas Soucek, despite starting the opening match of the season against Aston Villa. He has been linked to a move with Turkish giants Fenerbache, who were also heavily interested Soler, they could now make a move for Soucek instead. The midfielder would be expected to cost around €20m but it’s yet to be seen whether or not they would pay that.

James Ward-Prowse hasn’t really been linked with a move away yet, however, you can’t rule out him being linked to a Premier League side in the final few days of the window. Who knows, Southampton may come back in for their former captain to add to their midfield options. The Saints were also interested in re-signing Danny Ings at the start of the window, Tim Steidten will be hoping they reignite their interest in the coming days.

Maxwel Cornet is the fourth player the Hammers want to let go before the transfer deadline, he has failed to make any impact at West Ham, suffering lots of injuries. He was given a chance by Lopetegui in pre-season but he failed to impress, so he has been placed on the transfer list. The Ivorian failed to make the bench against Aston Villa on Saturday, the same as Nayef Aguerd, who is also be available for transfer at the right price. However, the manager would be happier to keep him after a solid pre-season.

If West Ham are able to sell all of these players it could mean they could bring two more in. Carlos Soler looks increasingly likely to happen, as PSG seem happy to negotiate a loan deal. The Spaniard has also reportedly turned down a move to Real Sociedad in favour of the Hammers.

The club could also make a move for another central defender, especially if Kurt Zouma’s move to the Middle East is eventually completed. Chelsea have told Trevoh Chalobah he needs to leave the club this summer, so he could be available on a cut-price or loan deal in the final couple of days of the window. The Englishman looks like the most likely central defensive move for the club after being linked to a move all summer. If Danny Ings goes another forward could come in, however it would be unlikely after the big-money signing of Niclas Fullkrug.
