West Ham United could be dealt a big blow by Manchester United in the summer transfer window it seems.
Julen Lopetegui has been a really busy man in the transfer market this summer, bringing eight new players to West Ham, and Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has made plenty of new signings as well.
And whilst his main priority may well now be to shift on some of the fringe players, his business is far from finished.
The West Ham manager admitted that himself recently when he insisted that he wants two top quality options in every single position.
And it seems as though central midfield is a specific position where Lopetegui wants to strengthen before the window slams shut next week.
A deal for Carlos Soler seems to be progressing, but with Edson Alvarez struggling with injury, the addition of a defensive-minded midfielder may well be needed too.
The perfect player is out there waiting for us but unfortunately, Man United seem to have taken the initiative in the race for his signature.
Manchester United could sign West Ham target
So it seems like Lopetegui could be set to lose out on someone who’s been a key target for West Ham for quite some time now.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move to sign Andre Trindade since last summer.
Unfortunately for us though, TNT Sports are now claiming that Manchester United are in talks to bring him to Old Trafford before next week’s transfer deadline.
The Hammers have chased Andre Trindade for a long, long time now, so missing out on him to Man United would be a big blow.
The 23-year-old would be the ideal summer signing for the Hammers.
If Manchester United really are in for him though, we won’t have much chance of bringing him to the London Stadium.
Andre Trindade perfect for West Ham
He is an incredibly robust player, with 149 games for club and country to his name since 2022 (Transfermarkt).
Andre’s tenacious tackling and aggressive approach to the game makes him ideally suited to the robust nature of Premier League football.
The five-capped Brazil international would provide perfect cover for Edson Alvarez, and he’d be the ideal long-term replacement for Guido Rodriguez in two or three year’s time.
In 31 league appearances for Fluminense last season, he averaged 1.9 tackles and one interception per game. During those outings he made an average of 78.9 passes per match and recorded a hugely impressive completion rate of 94.7% (Who Scored).
He is an incredible passer of the football, and is at his best when sitting at the base of midfield, breaking up the opposition’s play through the middle and then handing off the ball to his more technically gifted and creative teammates.
Andre Trindade is a sensational footballer, but it seems like Manchester United are in a far better position to sign him than West Ham are right now.
