West Ham United table late £16.6m bid for Richard Rios transfer before August 30
West Ham United have had a £16.6million bid rejected for Palmeiras star Richard Rios, according to Pipe Sierra.
The journalist reported this via his personal X account on 27 August and stated that the Brazilian club have no interest in negotiating the midfielder’s exit.
Sierra also added that there has been no further progress from the Hammers as yet ahead of the August 30 transfer deadline.
West Ham United to sign Richard Rios?
The 2024/25 summer transfer window has been quite an exciting one for Hammers fans. The club have welcomed a plethora of new names to their squad and has bolstered their ranks tenfold.
Both Tim Steidten and Julen Lopetegui have improved the Hammers’ chances of returning to European football massively and it’s evident to see why they’ve strengthened in the areas they’ve chosen to.
One of the most exciting additions to the team is that of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The former Manchester United man is now arguably the club’s first-choice right-back ahead of veteran Vladimir Coufal.
The Hammers lost Ben Johnson this summer after he exited the club upon the expiry of his contract and joined Premier League new boys, Ipswich Town.
Although Rios’ addition would help bolster their defensive midfield ranks, with the likes of Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez already covering that position, it doesn’t make sense to add another number six to the squad.
Especially when Lopetegui is said to be on the cusp of welcoming Paris Saint-Germain ace Carlos Soler to the club [Dharmesh Sheth, 26 August] as a backup to the likes of Lucas Paqueta.
