Everton has endured a turbulent start to the Premier League season, losing their opening three matches whilst shipping ten goals.
It has been a frustratingly uncharacteristic start to a campaign under Sean Dyche, where their defence, previously the strongest facet of their squad, has looked more than unconvincing.
They miss Jarrad Branthwaite dearly, but that does not excuse the poor displays shown by the likes of James Tarkowski and Vitaliy Mykolenko.
Should this continue, Dyche’s future at Goodison Park is likely to get more and more uncertain.
Graeme Bailey reveals Sean Dyche’s Everton ultimatum
Speaking exclusively to Everton.News, revered journalist Graeme Bailey did not hold back in his assessment of the 53-year-old’s fortunes at Goodison Park.
After all, it was less than two weeks ago that he reported that Dyche was on thin ice at Everton, and since then, unrest has only grown.
The hope is that he will be given time and faith to prove his worth, but this reporter has instead revealed the ultimatum that he thinks the Toffees have handed to the manager.
Bailey claimed: ‘My understanding is that a change might have to happen. No-one was actively looking to replace him but, such has been the start that they have endured, it’s been pretty woeful.
‘I don’t necessarily think the Villa game will have a bearing, but the Leicester and Palace games will. And then that Newcastle game, that brings us up to the next international break.
‘I think that’s the key. I think he will get these next four league games, but I think it could be all or nothing for him come the next international break. What they get from these next four league games will be crucial to his future.
‘He might bring in 12 points. But, if he brings in nothing or one then he’s in big trouble.’
Who could Everton replace Sean Dyche with?
Whilst it would not be a wise decision, there are a few options on the market for the Toffees to explore.
After all, just before making this particular claim about Dyche, Bailey did outline two manager targets that Everton admired.
Unsurprisingly, due to their weak financial position, they are both out of work.
David Moyes will seemingly always be linked with a vacant or tenuous managerial role at Goodison Park until he retires from the sport, such is his longstanding affiliation with the club.
But, Graham Potter is a far newer suggestion, and could catapult them into a contemporary era of progressive, modern-day football.
Whatever they do, it would make most sense to wait until this season’s conclusion and the subsequent expiry of Dyche’s current deal.
