Everton are a club that has been operated in questionable ways over the years, but few can deny their recent turn towards intelligence.
After all, previously Farhad Moshiri‘s desperation to deliver success had spilled over into questionable transfers and lofty fees.
As such, their finances were ruined.
Kevin Thelwell is spearheading the sustainable revolution being enjoyed at Goodison Park, which did allow them to spend more freely this summer, but they are not quite out of the woods yet.
Especially since Moshiri remains the owner of Everton, and also remains very much embroiled in controversy.
As the outstanding news to emerge last night, naturally the claims that Alisher Usmanov plans to sue Everton owner Farhad Moshiri have dominated headlines since.
After all, it has brought about so many questions for a club already so embroiled in unrest and uncertainty.
Fortunately, the Liverpool ECHO was on hand to provide some much-needed clarity.
They wrote: ‘Any potential Everton takeover could be hampered by Alisher Usmanov having taken legal action against his former business partner Farhad Moshiri, claims a report. Wantaway majority shareholder Moshiri is in talks with John Textor over selling his entire 94.1% stake in the Blues.’
They then actually spoke to an Everton insider, as they continued: ‘When contacted by the ECHO, an Everton insider said: “This matter is very much between the parties involved and nothing to do with the club.”’
Everton cannot afford to get caught up in more legal trouble
Given how close they were to being owned by 777 Partners, a firm constantly scrutinised and embroiled in controversy, Everton cannot really afford to get dragged into another legal scandal.
After all, A-Cap have already put Standard Liege up for sale after assuming the Miami-based firm’s stake after they were removed from the board of directors.
