Jamie O’Hara destroys ’embarrassing’ Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin after Aston Villa game
Jamie O’Hara has destroyed Dominic Calvert-Lewin after he hit the woodwork as Everton lost 3-2 against Aston Villa.
Everton once again managed to bottle a two-goal lead against Unai Emery’s men in what was a fairly end-to-end game at Villa Park.
The 27-year-old put in the hard miles throughout the game, but missed too many chances which could have saved valuable points in the Premier League.
Speaking live on talkSPORT’s Sports Bar (14 September, 18:53), O’Hara slammed the Everton star after watching the late kick-off.
“It’s embarrassing,” he said after a chance.
“That there is why he’s not gone to a top side, you’re one-on-one with the goalkeeper, you’ve got acres of space and you make the wrong decision, embarrassing.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin to cost Everton in Premier League?
Despite managing to bag a goal against the Villans, it feels as if Calvert-Lewin is on borrowed time in terms of leading the attacking line.
The striker is started week-in and week-out purely out of necessity due to the poor depth Sean Dyche has in the number nine role.
Armando Broja was brought in to bolster the Merseyside outfit’s attacking ranks but he arrived at Goodison Park injured and is unable to make an impact straight away.
It’s not yet known when the Albania international is set to feature for Everton but it couldn’t come quick enough for the club.
The club are still rock bottom of the Premier League table with zero points to their name and, the longer this poor run of form carries on, the more pressure that will build up about the future of Dyche.
The former Burnley manager is already under a magnifying glass and, although his contract expires at the end of the season, he could well find himself out the Goodison Park exit door before.
