Tottenham lost to Arsenal on Sunday at home and Alan Shearer has now called out a number of Spurs players for not being good enough.

Ange Postecoglou watched on in angst as Arsenal defended brilliantly to see off Spurs and in the end, win quite comfortably.

Tottenham spent a huge amount of money in the summer once again and also managed to keep their ‘better’ players at the club.

However, Dominic Solanke is yet to score and in Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, and Wilson Odobert, they have talent for the future.

But according to Alan Shearer, it is two players who are already at the club who are not up to standard. Alan Shearer who is known for not easily talking down on players single out this players as not top team players.

Tottenham told Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson aren’t good enough

Speaking on TalkSPORT about Tottenham and their inability to win things, Jordan has predicted it will be much of the same this season.

And within that prediction, he suggested both Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski are not good enough.

“I think they will struggle to win anything this year because I don’t think they are good enough. I don’t think the players that they have bought are good enough,” Shearer said.

“I look at Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson and think they are decent players if you are a mid-table Premier League side. They are not decent players if you are trying to win something with this team.

“Solanke, we’ll see. The reasons why they buy Solanke some will say is for a variety of different reasons but mostly it’s because the player wanted to play for Spurs.

“The statistics they bought him for seem to match the way they want to play, but people like Solanke have to start scoring goals. You would expect a centre forward to start scoring goals and the chance he had in that game was more than a good chance.

Johnson and Kulusevski need to do more

It might only have been one game to go off and the opposition were Arsenal, but Tottenham’s players do need to be contributing more.

Jamie O’Hara picked up on Johnson going missing against the Gunners, while Kulusevski also flattered to deceive at times.

For Ange Postecoglou, he needs these players to really start making an impression now.

Kulusevski is effectively a senior player now given his time at the club and Johnson is no longer the new kid on the block having had a year to settle in now.

Tottenham, put simply, need a lot more from certain players if they’re to win.
