Man United are being tipped to line up another bid for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 20-time champions are planning to keep close tabs on the England international once again.
The 22-year-old has missed the start of the season for the Merseyside club due to a groin injury, having yet to play a game for the first team.
Branthwaite did play 90 minutes for Everton’s Under-21s team last Sunday (22 September) as he edges close to a return.
United had pursued Branthwaite throughout the summer transfer window, making multiple bids to try and sign him.
The Premier League giants went up to £60million in their attempts to secure the centre-back, but Everton were unwilling to let him leave for that price.
Man United are going to push for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite once again
Erik ten Hag wanted to bolster his defensive options during the summer, and he did end up signing two centre-backs in Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt.
United are still interested in Branthwaite, who also had the likes of Man City and Liverpool keeping tabs on him during the summer months.
The 22-year-old is under contract at Goodison Park until 2027, putting Everton in a strong negotiating position for any potential bids.
Branthwaite caught the attention of several top Premier League sides due to his performances last season for Everton.
The centre-back won 184 duels, made 181 recoveries, and won 95 aerial battles during the 2023-24 campaign.
