Everton have a rich history of developing young talent, and Dwight McNeil feels as if there’s another player in the pipeline.
Wayne Rooney is a prime example of that notion whilst Anthony Gordon, who’s now at Newcastle United, is a more recent case.
Since Sean Dyche’s arrival last year, he’s been willing to give young talent a chance and one player is flourishing under his stewardship.
Dwight McNeil thinks he can reach the very top.
Dwight McNeil says Jarrad Branthwaite has massive potential
Speaking after Everton’s 2-1 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday, the matchwinner Dwight McNeil heaped praise on Jarrad Branthwaite, who returned from injury, and said he’s got massive potential.
“I’m close with ‘Jazza,’ and I know he was frustrated when he was injured,” McNeil told the Liverpool Echo.
“It maybe took him a bit longer than he wanted to, but the main thing is he’s young and a massive part of our squad.
“I’m happy to see him back. He’s a massive player and has a massive future ahead of him.
“When people are injured or ill, it’s always difficult for any team. Us now having a fully fit squad coming back is good for the lads.”
Jarrad Branthwaite’s return will massively help Everton defensive woes
Everton have struggled defensively this season which is a stark contrast to last year.
Dyche’s sides are usually so well organised and watertight for the most part but it’s been the opposite of that so far.
Now, with Branthwaite back from injury, their defensive record should start to improve and that was already on show on Saturday
