Not only would the club be rid of their current owner, who has struggled relentlessly to make the Toffees a success, but his replacement was to be the preferred option as John Textor loomed as a top suitor too.

An American billionaire laden with money and experience, since then things have gone quiet on the takeover front.

Alan Myers has sought to keep things ticking over.

Taking to X, the revered reporter would once again respond to a fans’ concern regarding the takeover.

After all, as is always the way with modern football, the supporters are so often left hopelessly in the dark about business matters.

Fortunately, the Sky Sports journalist was on hand on this occasion, as he so frequently is, to provide some transparency.

Replying after fears regarding The Friedkin Group being tied up in 777 Partners and A-Cap’s mess, with their deal with the latter under scrutiny, one fan wrote: ‘Is everything still going well with TFG Al? Some are worried about this Leadenhall issue’.

Myers would claim: ‘No, as far as I’m aware all is on track.’

What can Everton expect from The Friedkin Group?

Well, already The Friedkin Group have started to make their mark on Everton, despite having yet to actually assume control.

In fact, their decision to loan the club hundreds of millions even before they returned for a second bite at the cherry indicated their financial viability and willingness to help the Toffees out of a tough spot.

Having already showcased their success on the business side with AS Roma, clearing them of their debt whilst morphing them into a more sustainable unit, the hope is that they can take those lessons learned and translate them into success on Merseyside.

And, with a new stadium on the way, the hope is that Toyota, one of Dan Friedkin‘s enterprises, could play a big role moving forwards with regards to sponsorships.
