Jose Mourinho responds to Everton source’s update

Everton target Jose Mourinho is happy with his current job at Fenerbahce, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider has been told by well-placed sources that the 61-year-old is a contender to become the next Everton manager as pressure mounts on Sean Dyche.

However, the Portugese is believed to be currently content in Turkey although he would be open to a potential Premier League post in the future.

Mourinho took on the job with the Super Lig giants in June of this year and has guided the team to fourth place in the league after the opening seven games.

The experienced manager is one of several names linked with replacing Dyche at Goodison Park after the club’s poor start to the season.

Everton are in the process of being taken over by The Friedkin Group, and the new owners are expected to bring a fresh approach and new ideas.

The Friedkin Group have worked with Mourinho before during his spell at Roma, which is one reason he is seen as a potential contender to move to the Merseyside club.

Everton are currently planning with Sean Dyche despite Jose Mourinho links

Even though the club have been linked with hiring Mourinho, they are currently planning with Dyche in mind moving forward.

However, Football Insider revealed there have been no contract talks with Dyche, whose deal expires next summer.

The ‘Special One’ lifted the Europa Conference League at Roma when he last worked with The Friedkin Group in 2022, but he hasn’t worked in the Premier League since 2021 when his time with Tottenham ended.

Mourinho boasts extensive experience in the English top flight throughout his career, following two successful spells at Chelsea and a stint with Man United.

Everton have only managed to win once this season in the Premier League, leaving the club 16th in the table.

However, the Merseyside giants have gone three games without a loss heading into this international break as their performances have started to improve
