England fans believe Dean Henderson should be the first-choice goalkeeper after he made his first start for the Three Lions.
The 27-year-old shot-stopper played the full game on Sunday (13 October) as Lee Carsley’s side defeated Finland 3-1 courtesy of goals from Jack Grealish, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Declan Rice.
The Nations League fixture marked the first time the Crystal Palace goalkeeper has started for England, and was only his second-ever cap.
Carsley opted to rotate things and drop Jordan Pickford, who had made an individual error for the first goal in England’s 2-1 loss against Greece in the previous fixture.
Henderson has had to be patient in waiting for his second opportunity with the Three Lions, as his last outing came against the Republic of Ireland in 2020.
The victory kept England’s hopes of topping Group 2 alive as they sit three points behind Greece ahead of their next two fixtures in November.
England supporters want Dean Henderson to become the first-choice goalkeeper
Henderson was unable to keep a clean sheet in his first full game for England, but his performance was enough for fans to call for him to get more opportunities.
Supporters claimed he looked a “safer keeper,” with others starting he should be number one because he is “more calm” than Pickford
