Asmir Begovic shares what Everton players are saying about The Friedkin Group’s proposed takeover

It has not been the best of starts in the Premier League for Everton but there has been some positive signs in recent weeks.

After failing to pick up a single point in their opening four games, Sean Dyche‘s side have been able to get up and running with points in their last three games.

With Everton now out of the relegation zone, fans will be hoping for better times with a potential takeover on the cards at Goodison Park.

The Friedkin Group are now closing in on the completion of their takeover at Everton after well over a year of trying from Farhad Moshiri.

And it seems as if the news from outside of the club is creeping into the Everton dressing room with Asmir Begovic commenting on the speculation.

What Everton players are saying about the takeover

The Friedkin Group have already filed official paperwork to buy Everton with the process heating up ahead of the January window.

A potential takeover at Everton comes just months out from the Toffees making their move to their new stadium on the docks.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, backup goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has admitted the players are speaking about the proposed takeover behind the scenes.

“Yeah, I’d be lying to you if I said it’s not a topic of conversation from time to time, absolutely,” he said.

“But overall, our job is to focus on the day to day. And, you know, I think the manager has been different class and just handling the day to day business, focusing on the stuff that we can control on the training pitch on a match day. So that’s, that’s the main thing we focus on.”

The Friedkin Group will want quick Everton takeover

It certainly has been a more promising few weeks at Goodison compared to their opening four games of the season.

However, Everton are only two points above the relegation zone and are far from being in the clear just yet.

If The Friedkin Group are able to get through the doors on Merseyside sooner rather than later then they could provide the club with a big boost in funding the January transfer window.

If not, Everton will simply be left with one main task for the season in not getting relegated considering they have a brand new stadium to move into next season.
