Roy Keane and Ian Wright fire shots at four ‘nasty’ former Everton players

Everton are back in action on the weekend and will be looking to continue their improved form prior to the international break.

Sean Dyche‘s side made a dismal start to their opening four games of the season which returned nothing but four straight losses.

However, Everton‘s last three games have offered two draws and a victory with the Toffees finally off the mark in the Premier League.

And it is a game which Everton fans will be hoping three points is taken from against the side which sits one place and one point below them, Ipswich Town.

However, a focus on some of Everton’s former players has been placed by Roy Keane when speaking to former referee Howard Webb.

Which three former Everton players Roy Keane slammed as nasty

Unfortunately, the Toffees was a side which Keane enjoyed a lot of success against during his playing days.

The Manchester United midfielder played the Blues 24 times and only lost in four of those games with 17 wins to his name.

However, the Republic of Ireland international has admitted there were some Everton players which were not the best to play against.

Speaking on the latest Stick to Football podcast, Keane labelled Duncan Ferguson, Thomas Gravesen, David Weir and Alan Stubbs as some of the nastiest players he faced.

“I got took to the cleaners that day by some really big characters that day. People like Duncan Ferguson, Thomas Gravesen, David Weir and Alan Stubbs at Everton,” recalled former referee Webb.

“Whingers,” added Ian Wright.

“Nasty. Nasty, them. Moaning all the time when decisions go against them,” replied Keane jokingly.

Alan Shearer admitted Duncan Ferguson would scare defenders

Clearly, Ferguson was a formidable character to come up against on the pitch during his time with the Toffees.

The Scottish striker played 263 times for Everton across all competitions where he was able to return 69 goals and 11 assists.

One other Premier League striker who knew where the back of the net was is Alan Shearer and the former Newcastle United spoke very highly of Ferguson.

“He was an unbelievable player and a great lad to have in the dressing room,” said Shearer.

“You could see that, standing in the tunnel, the defenders were absolutely petrified of him. They were scared to even look at him at times. Honestly, he was a great lad and a brilliant player.
