Sean Dyche drops Seamus Coleman injury update ahead of Everton showdown v West Ham United
Sean Dycher has dorpped a new Seamus Coleman injury update ahead of the showdown between Everton and West Ham United.
The Toffees make the trip to the London Stadium to face Julen Lopetegui’s Hammers on Saturday (9 November) as they look to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Southampton last time out.
While Coleman was named in Ireland’s squad for the November international break, Dyche has confirmed that the defender has picked up a minor hamstring issue and will miss the clash with the Irons.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday (7 November) he said: “Unfortunately he’s got an injury so we’re not sure how serious that is at this stage.
“It looks minor at the moment, but we’ll have to wait and see. Unfortunately, he just keeps getting there and he’s working very hard in training but that’s an unfortunate one.
“He’s got a minor hamstring so we’ve just got to check that it’s nothing too serious, but we’ll know over the weekend or we’ll probably know today actually.”
What has happened to Everton ace Seamus Coleman at Goodison Park?
As Dyche suggests, it feels as though whenever Coleman gets closer to returning to the fold for the Toffees, he suffers a new setback which puts him right back to square one.
The Blues aren’t blessed with incredible depth at fullback currently and there has been a reliance on Vitalii Mykolenko and Ashley Young to hold the fort while both Coleman and Nathan Patterson have dealt with their fitness issues.
Hopefully, the Blues will have enough quality to get through the clash at the London Stadium on Saturday. Even without Coleman, the Toffees will fancy their chances of claiming all three points given the Hammers’ miserable recent run of form.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Coleman does join up with the Republic of Ireland squad for their November internationals.
If he is to be left on Merseyside, it may serve as an indication of just how bad his injury is and what treatment could be required.
