Everton ready to offer player once sold for £66 million a move to Goodison Park

Everton are gearing up for the January transfer window with things needing to improve, and it appears as if a central midfielder is on the radar.

The Friedkin Group will already have their set plans and thoughts for the January transfer window, but it may not be as exciting as many Everton fans hope.

It’s a known fact that the January transfer window is slow and fairly quiet for most clubs as many look to keep their powder dry ahead of the summer months.

Costs will no doubt be kept down ahead of a move into the new stadium, as it’s already been revealed that the prospective new owners are eyeing a new manager for the summer of 2025.

However, a January move has already been touted for Everton and it’s a player that fans will recognise the name of from his time at Liverpool.

Arthur Melo played just one game for Liverpool during his loan move to Merseyside due to suffering an injury, which isn’t anything new to the South American as his injury record his terrible.

The current campaign hasn’t gone too well for him either as he’s yet to appear for Juventus, just four years after signing him for £66 million.

Interestingly, it appears as if Everton could be set to hand Arthur Melo a lifeline.

According to Friday’s edition of Sport (as per Sport Witness), Everton have ‘already shown interest’ in the midfielder’s situation and are ready to offer him an ‘escape route’ in January.

Arthur Melo’s time at Fiorentina

Arthur completed a 30+ game league season for the first time in his career at Fiorentina.

There will always be that worry with his injury record, which is something Everton don’t want to have to think about as they have injury issues of their own already.

He’s got the quality and the technique to add a lot to Everton’s midfield, so a loan with an option could be a good idea for the Toffees.

Orel Mangala is set to leave at the end of the season, whilst the current central midfielders at the club don’t really offer much creativity, so Melo could offer something new.
