Jamie O’Hara moots big Everton trouble after what he was told

Everton are in “big trouble” in the Premier League relegation battle after what Jason Cundy told him on talkSPORT on Saturday.

Assessing the Toffees’ 0-0 draw against 10-man Brentford at Goodison Park on 23 November, Cundy expressed his concern.

The pundit pointed out that the Merseyside-based club have a tough set of fixtures coming up and admitted that he is worried about their situation.

“In December, they’ve got [Manchester] United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, [Manchester] City, [Nottingham] Forest, sandwiched amongst all of that, they’ve got Wolves, they will stink. I’m worried about Everton”, Cundy said on talkSPORT [23 November, 5:54 pm].

Although Sean Dyche’s side sit 15th in the table, O’Hara believes they face a serious risk of dropping down to the Championship this season.

“You’ve got to look at the teams below”, O’Hara said.

“They’re 15th and have got 11 points, but Wolves have picked up, you say Crystal Palace aren’t going to be there, so the only other team really is Leicester.

“Ipswich, for me, are gone. Southampton are gone. It’s only Leicester then that Everton are fighting with. But, you’re talking about that fixture list they’ve got coming up, big trouble.”

17th-placed Wolves appear to be on the way up after picking up two wins in two, but the jury is still out on Crystal Palace, contrary to what Cundy said.

While Southampton are destined to go straight back down after picking up just four points in 11 games, Everton, Leicester, Palace and Ipswich are looking likely to battle it out to avoid the two other relegation spots.

Nevertheless, December could be make-or-break for the Toffees and there is no doubt that Dyche and Co. need to up their game if they want to avoid the drop.

Having only won one of their last six games, it is hard to say how many points should Everton target in their seven games in December, but things certainly do not look bright for them.

The game against Brentford was a great opportunity for the Blues to go into the festive period on a high, particularly after Christian Norgaard was controversially sent off.

Thomas Frank’s side had lost all of their five away games in the Premier League this season before Saturday and it is a shame that the hosts failed to claim all three points.
