Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is a long-standing transfer target for Manchester United.
The Toffees have endured a fairly horrid period in the last few years, with the emergence of Branthwaite one of the biggest positives to come from that time frame.

With 72 Merseyside appearances under his belt, and an England cap to add to that, Branthwaite has become an integral component of this Everton team with another relegation fight on the cards.
However, with high-level performances, come high-level interest and Everton will have a massive transfer decision to make in the summer when it comes to determining his future.
While the goal will be to retain his services, the Toffees may have to consider the potential benefits if he were to move on to greener pastures.
Everton could reluctantly sell Branthwaite this summer
Many, if not most on Merseyside will be keen to see Branthwaite spend a good few years at Everton before eventually moving on but things may need to pan out differently for the greater good of the club.
Everton need a major rebuild. Season after season, the Toffees have been engrossed in a relegation fight and with little investment and poor recruitment, there have been very few signs of progression.
For that to come to fruition, some tough decisions may need to be made to fund that rebuild, starting with the sale of Branthwaite.

Everton have a big summer ahead
Of course, the main focus has to be staying in the Premier League this season, but once that is achieved, The Friedkin Group have a massive task on their hands in the summer.
A huge rebuild is needed with some smart decisions ended when it comes to recruitment if the Toffees are going to rise back to the highs of English football.
As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day. And neither will Everton, but they can certainly take a massive step forward to achieving their ultimate goal if the right decisions are made over the coming months.
