Posting on Instagram, the Red Devils forward said: “Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season. Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury.
“I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for.”
Amad’s injury leaves United short of attacking players, with Rashford on loan at Villa and Antony on loan at Real Betis. And supporters have been making it clear on social media they want the Old Trafford club to make efforts to get one or both players back.
