Liverpool’s quest to win the Premier League title was handed a major boost at the weekend thanks to the victory over Wolves. Goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah helped the Reds claim a 2-1 win at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Liverpool have been handed an update on the future of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing Isak over the last few weeks, with rumours ramping up since the January window closed.
According to Spanish news outlet Sport, Newcastle are already “accepting” that Isak may leave the club in the summer, but only on certain conditions, with a verbal agreement set. These are if the Magpies miss out on Champions League qualification and if a rival club submits an offer of more than €100million (£83.3million)
Liverpool are mentioned in the report as being in the market for a new striker, but will face competition from Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona. It has also been suggested that the Reds would look to sign Isak and use funds raised by the sale of Luis Diaz, who is reportedly a target for Barca this summer.
Arne Slot’s side will now look ahead to a busy week of top-flight action that will see them face away trips to Aston Villa and Manchester City in the space of a few days. The Reds currently have a seven-point lead over Arsenal at the top of the table, which could be extended to 10 with a win at Villa Park in midweek.
Away from the action on the pitch, Liverpool are continuing to be linked with several potential new signings ahead of the summer transfer window. It remains to be seen what business the Reds will have planned for the end of the season, with one guaranteed new arrival once Giorgi Mamardashvili’s loan spell at Valencia is completed.
