Anthony Gordon says he’d love it if £40m England player signed for Newcastle

Anthony Gordon has named the England player he’d most like to sign for Newcastle United.

The winger has played with some absolutely exceptional players for England.

Bukayo Saka is a world-class player and Newcastle certainly need a new right-winger.

Meanwhile, Curtis Jones is Anthony Gordon’s best friend, so, selfishly, that is a signing that may make sense.

However, speaking to That’s Football, Anthony Gordon has named another player as the England star he’d most like to bring to St James’ Park.

Indeed, according to Gordon, the England player he’d most like to sign for England is indeed Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.

Newcastle made a loan bid for Palmer a few years ago, but that offer was rejected.

Gordon spoke about signing Palmer for Newcastle.

The winger says that he wouldn’t want to displace anyone in his current team, but if he had to pick, he’d choose to sign Palmer due to his incredible quality.

“One England teammate you’d love to bring to Newcastle?” Gordon was asked.

“I’m thinking about this logically because I don’t want to displace anyone. Right now I’d probably go for Cole. I don’t think he’d suit our style of play at all. We have a pressing style of play, but his quality and what he’s doing at the minute, I’d probably pick Cole,” Gordon said.

Anthony Gordon says that he’d love Cole Palmer at Newcastle, and it’s not hard to understand why.

The £40m man has been one of the Premier League’s best players over the past 18 months, and Gordon knows first-hand just how good he is.

England won the U21 Euros with Palmer and Gordon playing key roles for the Young Lions.

Interestingly, Palmer and Gordon never actually lost a game together for the U21s, but they’re yet to win a game at senior level when they have been on the same pitch.

Hopefully that will change in the coming months as Thomas Tuchel takes charge.

Newcastle are the richest club in the world, but it’s unlikely that they will be signing Palmer anytime soon after the attacker signed a new long-term contract at Chelsea recently.
