19 players could miss Everton v Manchester United as Premier League duo dealing with big injury lists

Man Utd and Everton are both facing a host of injury problems ahead of Saturday’s Premier League encounter

Manchester United and Everton are on contrasting runs of form ahead of Saturday’s Premier League contest at Goodison Park but both managers have a host of injury problems to contend with ahead of the weekend.

United lost 1-0 at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon with seven academy players on the bench due to the injury issues facing Ruben Amorim. Everton are doing a better job of navigating their injury woes as they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park on Saturday just a few days on from rescuing a point against Liverpool in a dramatic 2-2 draw in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have 12 points from their last five games, with only Arsenal and Liverpool claiming more in that time with 13 each. Meanwhile, United have picked up just six and will be hoping for a lift against Everton this week.

Everton injury news

Starting with the home side, Everton were dealt a fresh injury blow in their draw with Liverpool as key forward Iliman Ndiaye limped off. Speaking last week, Moyes said: “He’s got a medial ligament injury. It’s not looking great. Not sure how long it’ll be — it will certainly be a few weeks.”

Everton will have Abdoulaye Doucoure back against United after he served a one-game ban following a red card after the final whistle against Liverpool. Nathan Patterson is likely to be out with a hamstring problem while Youssef Chermiti (thigh) and captain Seamus Coleman (calf) are also set to miss out. More long-term issues for the Toffees are Dominic Calvert-Lewin (hamstring), Armando Broja (ankle) and Dwight McNeil (knee) while Orel Mangala is out for the season after rupturing his ACL.

Man Utd injury news

The Red Devils are set to be without Lisandro Martinez (knee) and Amad Diallo (ankle) for the remainder of the season while Kobbie Mainoo is facing a six-week spell on the sidelines. The Everton trip is likely to come too early for Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans while the likes of Mason Mount is not expected back until March.

United will hope to welcome a host of players back against Everton. Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer are doubts as things stand with no update provided after the pair missed the trip to Tottenham. Altay Bayindir has missed the last two matches with an unspecified injury issue but should be back in the squad. Christian Eriksen and Leny Yoro were absent against Spurs due to illness.

Providing his latest injury update, Amorim said after the loss to Tottenham: “Amad was alone [when he picked up his injury], Ugarte was a kick, Toby [Collyer] and Kobbie [Mainoo] felt something during training. Leny [Yoro] also is sick. It is what it is but we have the kids [coming into the squad], they have the opportunity to be on the bench and they are ready to play. It’s a really hard season and we have to deal with that and we are doing that.”
