Aston Villa target €50 million Spanish wonderkid in summer transfer

Aston Villa’s interest in Samuel Omorodion is reported to have returned with Unai Emery eyeing up a deal.
Unai Emery is reported to have regained interest in the promising 20-year-old forward Samuel (Samu) Omorodion as the club searches for a permanent replacement for Jhon Duran.

The Spaniard was heavily linked with a move to Villa Park last summer, with reports that the Olympic gold medal-winning talent was offered to Villa after a €40 million move to Chelsea broke down – with the Stamford Bridge side instead opting to sign Joao Felix.
The youngster bagged a move away from Atletico Madrid to Porto for a vastly reduced €15 million – however, the deal reportedly comes with a clause that means Los Rojiblancos will receive 50 per cent of any profits from a future sale. His move to Portugal came with a long-term contract lasting until 2029 with a huge €100 million release clause.
After a solid start to the season under previous manager Vítor Bruno, the player’s form has slumped in the new year. With just one assist in eight games, the forward is thought not to fit new boss Martín Anselmi’s system with the club now reportedly happy to recoup the profits in the summer.
Samu has impressed in the season as a whole scoring 18 goals and assisting three in his 29 games at the Portuguese side, including putting two past Manchester United in the Europa League proving he can be efficient against English sides.

According to Spanish outlet AS, the Villans are at the front of the list for a move with Samu somewhat matching the attributes of Duran. Porto are alleged to be happy to cash in early on the profits with the player already valued at €50 million which will still give the club a large cash injection despite the profits being split with his previous club.

AS also reported that all clubs are happy to put through a deal that is “beneficial for all parties”, with the player also interested in becoming part of his compatriot Emery’s project in Birmingham.
