David Moyes has warned potential suitors that it would take a “big bag of money” to prise Jarrad Branthwaite away from Everton as the Scot revealed that the Blues are “one bill” away from being rid of their PSR issues.
Branthwaite has established himself as one of the outstanding young defenders in the country since breaking into the Everton side last season and was subject to two bids from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Those offers were turned down by Everton, yet they arrived at a time when the club were battling with financial issues, having twice been docked points due to PSR breaches.

He said: “I don’t know all about PSR, but I do know we’ve still got some work to do. in the summer. I was aware of it when I came in, but I’m hoping that we’re going to stop thinking about that now and begin to start thinking about how we’re moving forward.
“We’ve got a bill to pay and then hopefully that’s us in the clear.
“Jarrad is a top player, if people want to buy Jarrad then I’ve said many times, bring a big bag of money.”
He added: “We had some really good centre-backs (in his previous spell with the club). The best teams have the best defence, and it gives you a chance of winning.
“Jarrad has done really well. I think he could do better. There’s still moments at times when he plays like a young centre-back, but I think he’s got an awful lot going for him. Already been involved in the England squad before I came here.
“He played really well last week, and I think he’s got a good mentor beside him in Tarky. That’ll be a help in improving him.”
Asked if the new stadium could prove to be a lure for new talent this summer, he said: “I hope people (potential signings) are going to look at Everton completely different, they will want to join Everton and we’ll need to work out how we bring in players in the summer.
“There’s quite a lot of players out of contract in the summer we’re going to have to look at as well.”
