Manchester United fans make their feelings known on Jarrad Branthwaite after his Everton display
Everton suffered a 4-0 defeat as Ruben Amorim’s side asserted their dominance from the off at Old Trafford.
There were a number of sub-par performances across the board with Vitaly Mykolenko well off the pace in particular.
Dwight McNeil was seen laughing towards the end of the game which left Everton supporters absolutely furious.
James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite endured tough afternoons, too, and Man United fans have now reacted to the latter’s performance, who is a long-term transfer target.
Man United fans don’t want Jarrad Branthwaite anymore
Manchester United are long-term admirers of Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and there has been talk of launching a bid in January.
However, after yesterday’s showing, United fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to voice their concerns about the potential signings.
@EvkProductions said: “Branthwaite is extremely overrated by this fanbase. Anytime I see him play against a decent team he gets stripped or spun. Keep very far away.”
“Don’t want to see anyone tipping Branthwaite to United ever again. Never rated him, today showed why,” @Tony_Beam1 posted.
@sharmann_ added: “We don’t want Branthwaite, go for Bastoni.”
@FinnMacnamara said: “So happy Branthwaite is having a stinker, don’t want any part of paying 90+ for him. Never thought he’s all that.”
“Every time I watch Branthwaite he has never convinced me I don’t know why people want him,” @JamaShongolo94 commented.
@SeeYay said: “I don’t want Branthwaite anymore.”
Branthwaite failed his audition for Man United
If yesterday was an audtion for Branthwaite, he certainly didn’t take his chance as evinced by his Sofascore statistics.
- 90 minutes played
- 55 touches
- 1 error led to goal
- 4 lost possession
The Everton defender looked a shadow of his former self but perhaps that’s largely due to his lack of game time this season.
Branthwaite has been sidelined for much of the campaign through injury, so perhaps he just needs to get back in the rhythm with more game time.
