Everton haven’t been the most efficient club in the Premier League when it comes to transfers, often failing to recoup value from their investments. Costly signings like Yerry Mina (£30m), Jean-Philippe Gbamin (£25m), Davy Klaassen (£23m), Cenk Tosun (£25m), and Gylfi Sigurðsson (£45m) failed to justify their price tags.
However, the club did manage to strike gold with one particular winger. Signed for a bargain fee, he was later sold for a 370% profit, only to struggle after moving to Saudi Arabia. Looking at Everton’s current squad, it’s unlikely he would have made much of an impact anyway.
Despite an impressive six-game unbeaten run, winning four, David Moyes lacks top-quality wingers. Iliman Ndiaye has been the standout performer with eight goals across all competitions but has missed the last two games due to a medial ligament injury. Similarly, Dwight McNeil has been absent since early December after knee surgery. That leaves Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrøm as the only available wide options. Given the circumstances, Everton’s limited winger depth could prove a challenge as they aim to maintain their strong form in the Premier League.
