Aston Villa hatch plan for international break after injury decimation

Aston Villa have been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks, which have threatened to derail their season’s ambitions.
Aston Villa are set to head to Dubai for a warm weather training camp when the final international break of the season arrives next month. Villa will jet out to the UAE to undertake their training in between blocks of domestic games ahead of the run-in of the season.

According to the Athletic, Villa intend to spend time in Dubai, provided they’re given the green light by the club hierarchy, to recuperate in the midst of a gruelling campaign which has been jam packed with matches across various competitions.
Villa play Cardiff City in the FA Cup on Friday night which will be their fifth match in the space of 13 days, and the action doesn’t pause any time soon with a trip to Club Brugge followed by a trip to Brentford after that. They then welcome Brugge in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
The Lions will, though, have an extended break; having played their game against Liverpool earlier than scheduled, Villa will have the final weekend before the international break (15th/16th) off, before their final cluster of games begins in April.

Unai Emery’s squad is currently under serious pressure from various injury woes; Amadou Onana, Ross Barkley, Boubacar Kamara and Pau Torres are all injured, while Matty Cash, Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and, on Tuesday night, Emiliano Martinez have all encountered problems of their own lately, too.

The international break will of course mean that a number of players jet off to represent their countries but for those who remain, and those who are working their way back to fitness, a change of scenery in warmer climes is seen as favourable in order to prepare the squad for the final push.
