Everton are set for an interesting few months with some big decisions needing to be made over their contract situations.
Numerous players could be lost over the summer with Everton seeing a lot of their players nearing the end of their deals. David Moyes will be keen to keep some of those players on Merseyside after what he has seen in his opening month-and-a-half in the job.
Everton want to hand Idrissa Gana Gueye a new contract with the midfielder playing a crucial role under the 61-year-old manager.
However, the Toffees may have to act quickly after what has just been shared about the Senegal international. Everton’s Idrissa Gana Gueye outperforms Europe’s elite
Gueye has really impressed Everton fans this season with the midfielder playing consistently in the starting XI.
It has been a seriously impressive term for Gueye who has remained a regular across both managers on Merseyside this season.
Following the draw against Manchester United on Saturday, Gueye had racked up more tackles and successful ground duels than any other player across Europe’s top five leagues in 2025.

The 32-year-old has now totalled a staggering 41 tackles and 62 duels won with Moyes squeezing the best out of the midfielder.
Even Moyes has admitted Gueye has wowed him after his return to Goodison Park.
As each week goes by, it becomes more and more clear that this is a player who Everton need to tie down to a new deal.

David Moyes may have to change contract plans
Everton have lingered around the foot end of the table for large parts of the 2024/25 campaign following the struggles under Sean Dyche.
However, Moyes has been able to turn around the Toffees’ fortunes with big strides taken since the middle of January.
But it is clear Moyes is still focused on getting over the 40-point mark, which would normally suggest Premier League safety.
“The players will want their futures sorted. This club has just got its future sorted. It’s got new owners who are just beginning to filter into the building. I’ve said & the owners have stated, until we’re safe, we’re not looking at contracts,” Moyes said in Tuesday’s press conference.
“The fact of the matter is, it’s not. We used to talk about 40 points. I think because I’m an old one, I’m going to keep talking about 40 points. I think 40 sounds like the total you had to get. We have to make sure we get to 40.”
But with Gueye operating at such a level, the Everton boss may have to change shift his focus and do all he can to get the midfielder tied down to a new deal.
Gueye has suggested he wants to stay at Everton, but the terms will naturally have to suit him.

How Everton feel about Carlo Ancelotti trying to prise Jarrad Branthwaite away to Real Madrid
Tue 25 February 2025 21:00

Everton fans are very much hoping that Jarrad Branthwaite will still be around at the club beyond the summer.
There will be a lot of changes later this year as The Friedkin Group oversee their first big transfer window as new owners.
Several players stand to leave as free agents at the moment, and loanees will also be heading back to their parent clubs.
But there is potential for players to be sold as well, and one player who’s attracted a lot of attention since becoming a regular in the first-team is Jarrad Branthwaite.
Branthwaite is possibly the Everton player with the highest ceiling of all right now, and lots of big clubs have been credited with an interest in him.
Real Madrid are interested in Branthwaite and the Carlo Ancelotti factor will likely make some Evertonians nervous this summer.
But one claim has been made today that might make some feel a bit better.

Branthwaite has previously talked up playing in the Premier League, which may well point to where his head is at.

But at the end of the day, Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world, and are being managed by one of the greatest managers ever.
But there are a few suggestions today that Everton may well be hanging on to Branthwaite this summer.
Firstly, it’s stated that Real Madrid sources feel that Cristian Romero of Tottenham Hotspur could be a cheaper alternative to Branthwaite, who is valued around £70 million by Everton.
And secondly, there is word on Everton’s actual stance right now.
While there remains deep respect for Ancelotti, Everton ‘feel in control of the situation’, and are ‘determined’ to keep Branthwaite.
Furthermore, it’s suggested ‘Everton feel they are PSR compliant’ heading into the summer, which puts the club in a strong position over Branthwaite.
Everton should be getting Branthwaite tied down to new contract
It’s starting to feel like Everton could successfully keep Branthwaite out of Real Madrid’s clutches this summer.
it would be such a big boost to keep hold of him, because he clearly has all the tools to become a world-class central defender.
Everton are moving into their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium next season and a new era will begin.
Keeping Branthwaite sends out the right kind of message at the start of this new era, so hopefully the Toffees do indeed keep hold of him.
Everton are yet to open talks with Branthwaite over a new contract, and that needs to change soon. Getting him to commit his long-term future really would be massive for the club.
