Ashley Young ‘must accept Everton career is at an end’ after scenes v Brentford

Ashley Young’s time at Everton may well be coming to an end after what happened in the draw against Brentford.

This culminated with a first Toffees goal against Brentford with a superb diving header to earn the Evertonians a hard-fought point on the road.

Paddy Boyland spotted Moyes reacting to his equaliser on the sidelines at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Athletic journalist reported on X (26 February) that he had just seen a replay of Moyes watching that goal.

Describing his celebrations, he said: ” [Moyes] motions to head the ball as it reaches O’Brien, then both arms aloft in celebration.”

This sums up the joy that the former Manchester United boss has had since coming in, in L4 as his faith in the defender has been repaid.

It is safe to say, at 23-years-old that the ex-Lyon man is poised to represent the Toffees for many years to come and has proved exactly why he was signed in the summer with his recent performances.

Although O’Brien appears to be an ideal alternative for Jarrad Branthwaite if he does leave for Real Madrid, right-back has proved to be an excellent role for the former Crystal Palace youngster.
