Newcastle United are plotting a raid on Sporting CP to sign their attacking sensation Viktor Gyokeres next summer.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, Newcastle are interested in signing Viktor Gyokeres ahead of next season as they look to prepare for life without Alexander Isak. The Magpies are massive admirers of the Sporting CP ace and believe he could be an ideal fit to replace his compatriot at the Tyneside club.
Gyokeres has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Portuguese club from Coventry City in the summer of 2023. He has established himself as one of the best forwards in Europe with his sensational form in front of the goal over the last two seasons.
After doing wonders for Sporting last season, the 26-year-old has carried on in similar fashion this time around. He has 35 goals and eight assists in his 37 outings. His sensational form in the final third has put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Newcastle are preparing for life without Isak
While his contract at the Portuguese club runs until the summer of 2028, he is unlikely to be around for long. Newcastle are one of the clubs that are after his signature. The Magpies are preparing themselves for a situation where they are forced to part ways with Isak.
The 25-year-old striker has grown in stature since moving to the Tyneside club in the summer of 2022. He has been among the best forwards in the Premier League. Isak has 21 goals and five assists in his 30 outings in the ongoing campaign. His performances have placed him on the wishlist of quite a few clubs, and Liverpool are believed to be one of them.
Liverpool are pushing to sign Isak
While the Magpies have no intentions of selling the Swedish international, the Reds are willing to go all out to sign him. With Mohamed Salah expected to part ways with the club, Isak could be the perfect signing to ensure they have similar firepower next season.
Liverpool are all set to step up their efforts, and Newcastle have already started preparing for life without Isak. They have prepared a list of targets who could help replace him, and Gyokeres is one of the first names on it. He has all the qualities to do wonders in the Premier League, and the Magpies are ready to go big for him.
