FANS SLAM THEIR OWN STAR FOR HIS PERFORMANCE AGAINST BRIGHTON

_Anthony Gordon’s Mistakes Cost Newcastle Again as Brighton Snatch Late Winner_

Newcastle United’s woes continued on Saturday as they suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at St James’ Park.

The Magpies had taken the lead through a stunning strike from Miguel Almiron, but Brighton fought back to level the scores through a Lewis Dunk header.

As the game seemed to be heading for a draw, Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon made a crucial mistake that cost his team the game. The young winger, who has struggled to find his form since joining Newcastle in January, was caught in possession by Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, who then played a through ball to Kaoru Mitoma.

Mitoma’s pace and skill proved too much for Newcastle’s defense, and he slotted the ball past Nick Pope to seal the win for Brighton.

Gordon’s mistake was his second costly error in as many games, and it has left Newcastle fans frustrated and wondering if the 22-year-old is ready for the Premier League.

“Anthony Gordon’s mistakes are costing us games,” said Newcastle manager Eddie Howe. “He’s a young player and he’s still learning, but he needs to improve his decision-making and his defensive work.”

Despite the defeat, Newcastle remains in a strong position in the Premier League table, but they will need to improve their form if they want to secure a top-seven finish.

Brighton, on the other hand, has moved up to seventh place in the table and is now just two points behind Newcastle.

The Seagulls’ manager, Roberto De Zerbi, was delighted with his team’s performance and praised their fighting spirit.

“We showed great character and determination to come back from a goal down and win the game,” De Zerbi said. “We’re playing some great football at the moment, and we’re confident that we can finish the season strongly.”
