The official reason why Lewis Hall is ruled out of Newcastle United’s FA Cup tie vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Lewis Hall is not in Newcastle United’s squad for this afternoon’s FA Cup fifth-round clash against Brighton & Hove Albion (kick-off 1:45pm).

Eddie Howe has made six changes from the 2-0 defeat at Premier League leaders Liverpool on Wednesday with Alexander Isak and Joelinton back from injury – and straight back in the starting XI.

Isak missed the visit to Anfield with a groin issue while Joelinton has been sidelined since the beginning of February with a knee injury.

Isak replaces Callum Wilson up top and Joelinton comes into the midfield alongside Lewis Miley, with Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock dropping out. The other changes see Martin Dubravka, Harvey Barnes and Kieran Trppier replace Nick Pope, Jacob Murphy and Hall.

According to Newcastle,, the left-back is “not named in the squad at all due to an ankle injury.”

The severity of Hall’s problem is currently unknown but his absence is a blow to Newcastle. In last Sunday’s 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest, Hall played a major part in all three opening goals.
