Rooney is currently out of management after another failed spell in the Championship with Plymouth Argyle, having previously had a difficult time at Birmingham City.
Of course, this doesn’t replicate what the former England international did as a player, as Rooney was named in Leon Osman’s best XI.
Moyes nurtured the talent of Rooney at Everton, with the Scotsman being the first manager he played under in his career, as he went onto become England’s greatest ever player.
However, Rooney hasn’t repaid the favour after making a jokey comment at Everton’s new stadium.
Rooney jokes about taking David Moyes’ job as manager of Everton
Moyes achieved so much at Everton and created Rooney as a player when he made his debut for the Toffees at just 16.
Many Evertonians will remember where they were when Rooney scored that last-minute winning goal against Arsenal, five days before his 17th birthday.
Controversially, Jamie Carragher claimed Rooney wasn’t an Everton legend, as it is much debated with the former Toffees man leaving Goodison Park fairly early on for Man United.
Nevertheless, it still seems like he’s held in high regard around the Merseyside club and even got the opportunity to visit the Bramley Moore-Dock Stadium.
In a video on Everton’s club media, Rooney is seen going around Everton’s new home, and when asked where he’ll be sitting in the new ground (1:09), Rooney jokingly said, “There” pointing at the managerial dugout.

Rooney could become Everton boss one day but must improve
There have been telltale signs that Rooney can become a strong manager one day, especially after his time at Derby County.
Rooney worked under financial issues with the Rams and almost guided them to Championship safety with a very young Derby squad.
Since then though, Rooney hasn’t been able to make his mark, but it’s clear the former Everton player will not give up.
Moyes said Rooney was tough to manage despite his success, as the Everton boss will no doubt have given him advice about managing a football club.
He may tone down the advice after Rooney’s joke, as Moyes doesn’t look to be going anywhere anytime soon.
