Everton have agreed a deal to sign former player Ross Barkley from Aston Villa, with manager David Moyes keen to bring the midfielder back to Goodison Park.

Barkley, who left Everton for Chelsea in 2018, has been a key player for Aston Villa since joining the club in 2023, but Moyes has made it clear that he wants him back at Everton.

According to sources, Everton have agreed to pay a significant transfer fee to Aston Villa to secure Barkley’s signature, with the midfielder set to sign a long-term contract with the Toffees.

Moyes, who managed Barkley during his first spell at Everton, is a big fan of the player and believes he can make a significant impact on the team.

“Ross is a talented player who knows the club inside out,” Moyes said. “He’s been playing well for Aston Villa, but I believe he can take his game to the next level with us.”

Barkley’s return to Everton is expected to be a popular move among the club’s fans, who have fond memories of his time at the club.

The midfielder’s signing is also seen as a coup for Moyes, who has been working to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

With Barkley on board, Everton will be looking to push on and challenge for a European spot next season.
