Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers has shared his thoughts on the key differences between his club manager, Unai Emery, and England’s new head coach, Thomas Tuchel.
Rogers, who is currently training with the England squad ahead of their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Albania and Latvia, admitted that he has never worked under a manager with such a strong presence. He couldn’t help but notice the contrast between Tuchel and Emery, under whom he has played for several years.
“When I met him, his aura and demeanor stood out immediately. It’s hard to put into words, but he has this natural confidence and commands instant respect,” Rogers said.
“The way he carries himself is just different. Every manager has their own style, but I’ve never experienced anything quite like his. It’s something completely new for me.”
“You can see it in how he moves, how he interacts. He’s relaxed and composed, but when it’s time to get to work, he’s fully locked in.”
Rogers also praised Tuchel’s straightforward approach. “(Winning the World Cup) is the only objective. He made that clear from the start—what he wants to achieve, how he plans to do it, what he expects from us, and the areas we need to improve. There was no beating around the bush. He’s direct, and that’s the best way to get the message across.”
After England’s back-to-back defeats in the last two European Championship finals under Gareth Southgate, Tuchel’s fresh tactics and leadership could be the key to finally securing a major trophy. With the World Cup fast approaching, England fans are eager to see if he can guide the team to glory.
