NEWCASTLE ON BRINK OF DISASTER! Michael Owen’s Stark Warning to Eddie Howe: £150m Gamble That Could RUIN Everything!

Michael Owen believes Newcastle United are in a strong position to keep Alexander Isak but suggested “player power” could force their hand.
The Swede is the talk of Tyneside after bagging in the Carabao Cup final win over Liverpool. That second-half strike to give Arne Slot’s men an uphill task at Wembley took Isak’s tally for the campaign to 23 across all competitions.

Speculation has persisted all season but, with more than three years left to run on his current deal, Toon chiefs are in a strong negotiating position. Former striker Owen echoed this but also noted how Isak – if he wanted – could force a move.
Possibly, yeah,” he told talkSPORT when asked whether Isak is the best in the world. “I mean, that finish in the cup final the other day was unbelievable. Everybody’s getting carried away with Newcastle winning it, which is all well and good but, when you actually look at the game and try to analyse it, Newcastle were incredible.
They were brilliant weren’t they, Newcastle? Everybody knows that I grew up through the Liverpool academy. Liverpool is my team, but I thought it was just brilliant for football that Newcastle won. They’ve waited a long time. I was there at Wembley, the scenes were incredible. It was just a special day, a special day for football.
They’ve got a huge asset in Alexander Isak that everybody’s going to be chasing. Newcastle, of course, will do everything to keep him. They’ve got him on a long-term contract so I don’t think there’s any worries from that side.

“But we all know player power and things like that. If a huge team came in and turned his head, then who knows what would happen. The only good thing from Newcastle’s point of view is that it would take telephone numbers to prise him away now they’ve got him under contract.”
Owen hailed “incredible” Eddie Howe for keeping Newcastle challenging despite working under strict PSR regulations. The Magpies have not made a significant first-team signing for three transfer windows.
The annoying thing, if I were a Newcastle fan, is that they’ve got all this money, the new ownership came in, Eddie Howe came in, they signed some great players and it almost felt like that sort of stagnated,” he added. “They had to sell one or two players to keep within the financial regulations and all that.
