Newcastle talent in trouble after ‘ill-advised’ night out – Issues public apology

*Newcastle United Loanee Travis Hernes Issues Public Apology for Nightclub Visit*

Newcastle United’s young midfielder Travis Hernes has issued a public apology alongside Aalborg BK teammates Andres Jasson and Isak Hansen-Aarøen for visiting a nightclub after a 4-0 loss to Viborg FF in Denmark. The trio admitted to poor judgment and apologized to the club’s staff, teammates, fans, and association.

Hernes, joined Aalborg BK on loan in January and has made six appearances for the club. After the nightclub visit, the players released a statement on Aalborg’s website, expressing regret for their actions. “It was a case of poor judgment on our part, because we should have gone home when the event at the restaurant ended, and apologized to the staff and teammates, and apologize to the fans and everyone else who has an association with AaB,” the statement read.

The players are facing discipline from the club, and Hernes’ future at Aalborg BK remains uncertain. Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is known for running a tight ship, and it’s unclear how this incident might affect Hernes’ career with the Magpies. Howe did reveal that another player, Allan Saint-Maximin, visited his office to apologize for a controversy surrounding an interview, showing that the manager values accountability from his players.¹ ² ³

Travis Hernes is a Norwegian central midfielder who signed for Newcastle United from Shrewsbury Town in 2023. Although he hasn’t made his first-team debut, former Under-19s coach Ben Dawson has expressed excitement about Hernes’ potential. Hernes has played for Norway at various youth levels and has been training with Newcastle’s first team, but the club apparently doesn’t feel he’s ready for the Premier League yet.⁴

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining professionalism, even outside of matches. Hernes and his teammates have guaranteed that this won’t happen again and are committed to hard work on the training pitch to secure victories. As for now, Hernes’ future at Aalborg BK hangs in the balance, and it remains to be seen if he’ll feature in the team’s upcoming match against Lyngby.
