Tarkowski makes major Everton exit decision in contract update

James Tarkowski has been a key man for Everton this season.t

The 32-year-old has made 33 appearances for the Goodison Park outfit this season and has been a vital asset to the revival under David Moyes.

The former Burnley man has just one year left on his current contract with the Toffees and has made a decision on his future.

Tarkowski wants new Everton contract

Tarkowski’ contract must be high on the agenda ahead of the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the summer.

A report from Alan Nixon (18 May), via his Patreon, claims that the centre-back is looking for an extension and wants to continue on Merseyside.

It states that the veteran seems to be a regular starter in the short and medium term for the Blues, even if Moyes signs extra defenders in the transfer market.

Everton must keep Tarkowski around

Tarkowski was a constant presence for the Blues this season before suffering a hamstring injury which will keep him out for the rest of the campaign.

He will be raring for the new season to start but uncertainty around his deal will be a concern, although given his stance, it could be resolved before a ball is kicked at the new stadium.

It promises to be a very busy summer as the Friedkin Group set about making major changes both and off the pitch, with Moyes set to backed to improve the squad with significant funds.

Transfers are all well and good, but keeping key players like Tarkowski around for the foreseeable future is just as important and Toffees supporters will be hoping a deal can be reached sooner rather than later as the longer it goes on, the less likely a deal becomes.

They will want to witness more moments like his last minute equaliser in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison and the crunching tackle on Alexis Mac Allister in the reverse fixture, that saw him escape a red card early in the contest.

There is a good chance that they will, given that he is keen on continuing under Moyes rather than seeking an exit.
