Another signing set to arrive at Elland Road after four-year deal ‘agreed’ – Leeds United continue excellent business – The Leeds Press
Leeds United have now completed three signings in the space of just over two weeks. The window started off slow, but now business has moved very fast.
The club pushed to sell some players earlier this summer; the likes of Illan Meslier, Max Wober and Joe Gelhardt were all made available for sale. Lukas Nmecha and Jaka Bijol were the first and second signings of the summer. Nmecha was announced right after the news broke, but Leeds pushed in talks with Udinese to get a good fee for Bijol.
On Tuesday, the club has now completed their third signing of the summer. It was a mixed day, as Junior Firpo was also announced to be leaving Elland Road.
Leeds United to add another signing
Defender Sebastiaan Bornauw has officially joined the Whites from Wolfsburg on a four-year deal for a reported £5million fee. With his arrival, Max Wober is now expected to depart in the coming weeks.
Leeds are not done with business yet, as they have already lined up another big move after Bornauw. YEP are reporting that the Whites have Hoffenheim midfielder Anton Stach high on their shortlist for the summer. Stach would be the latest arrival from the Bundesliga this summer after Nmecha and Bornauw.
The Whites missed out on a deal for Habib Diarra early last week as Sunderland hijacked the deal. Now, Leeds have their man in Anton Stach – a deal is expected to be agreed in the coming days.
Stach brings a physical profile into midfield
The 26-year old checks the boxes of physicality that has run through all the signings so far. Stach stands at 6ft4 and comes with loads of experience in Europe’s top flight.
The midfielder is an expert ball winner; he ranks above the 90th percentile in the Bundesliga for Duels and defensive actions. Stach is also a bit of an all-rounder; he is able to move the ball forward as soon as he wins it.
This profile of player will be extremely necessary for a newly promoted club expected to play on the counter in the Premier League.
