Latest Newcastle United transfer news and gossip with an update on the futures of Brentford forward Yoane Wissa and Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson
Newcastle United’s summer transfer window has not gone as many would have expected after securing Champions League football.
Anthony Elanga has already been signed by the Magpies as they looked to strengthen their wide forward options. Now there are rumours about a potential move for a new striker, amid continued speculation about Alexander Isak’s future at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe and Co. are currently in the Far East for their pre-season tour and will face Arsenal in a friendly on Saturday. Away from the action on the pitch, Newcastle are still being linked with several potential new signings.

Here, Chronicle Live takes a look at some of the latest Newcastle transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.
Yoane Wissa ‘update’
Newcastle have been handed a blow in their hopes of signing Brentford star Yoane Wissa.
Sky Sports have claimed that the Magpies are now unlikely to sign Wissa this summer and are prepared to move on to other targets very soon.

The report has claimed that Wissa has become frustrated with the Bees not sanctioning his move to St James’ Park, with Newcastle’s pursuit of the Brentford forward looking likely to come to an end.
Chronicle Live: Wissa has been linked with Newcastle for some time, so for a deal to fall through after weeks of speculation would be a major blow. If the report turns out to be true, the Magpies would be wise to already have an alternative lined up.
Chelsea striker ‘wanted’
A report in the Daily Mail has claimed that Newcastle are now looking into signing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson this summer.
The report claims that if the Magpies fail to sign Wissa from Brentford, Jackson has been identified as an alternative target.
Jackson has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer, with the London outfit strengthening their striker options with the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
Chronicle Live says: Jackson has two years of Premier League experience under his belt and has also been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United this summer. If there is a chance that a deal can be agreed with Chelsea, it’s certainly one worth looking at.
