A fresh opportunity has reportedly arisen for Alexander Isak to secure his big-money move away from Newcastle.

Liverpool’s pursuit remains at a standstill with their Premier League rivals refusing to lower their £150million valuation.

Isak’s wish to depart has been hindered by his club’s inability to secure top transfer targets and potential replacements. Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko, and Joao Pedro have all eluded them, leaving Isak in a state of uncertainty just three days before their Premier League opener.

Ironically, it’s Saturday’s opponents, Aston Villa, that may have inadvertently aided the Swedish striker in securing his move. Villa are currently eyeing a re-signing of Marco Ascencio from PSG.

The Spanish forward featured 21 times on loan for Unai Emery’s team last season, netting eight goals. And to finance this move, club officials are negotiating the £40m sale of Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle in a deal that could be finalised this week, reports the Express.

Given he’s a product of the Villa Park youth system, Ramsey’s sale would also improve the club’s Financial Fair Play standing. While the 24-year-old isn’t a striker, he will bolster Newcastle’s attacking options.

This addition could potentially pave the way for Isak’s departure as Newcastle would have sufficient attacking strength to compensate for the Swede’s exit.

The 25-year-old has reportedly made it clear he doesn’t want to play for the North-East club again, after he was offered an ultimatum by Eddie Howe, and is now likely to be able to push harder for his move.

Liverpool have until 7pm on 1 September to finalise a deal. They are set for what could be an intense match as they head to St James’ Park on Monday, 25 August.

There’s still a chance that Isak could don the red jersey to face his current club.

So far, the Reds have suggested they’re not willing to up their initial offer of £110m plus add-ons, but they’ve since boosted their coffers with the s

ales of Darwin Nunez and Tyler Morton.
