Newcastle supporters have called out target Yoane Wissa for “disgusting” behaviour as he continues to try and force a move away from Brentford.
The Magpies have identified the Congo international as a priority signing to strengthen their attack after a flurry of rejections and the striker wants out at Brentford, who have sold Bryan Mbuemo and Christian Norgaard as well as losing manager Thomas Frank to Spurs.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Wissa was told a year ago that he could leave for a fee of £26 million but Brentford are now demanding at least £60 million for a player who scored 19 goals last season.
Like Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, who desperately wants to join Liverpool and has been absent from training and matchday squads, Wissa missed Brentford’s opening weekend defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Unhappy with his situation, he has now unfollowed his employers on Instagram and changed his profile picture to black – in addition to removing all mentions of Brentford.
But given Newcastle are in the same boat with Isak, many of the supporters have slammed Wissa’s antics and do not want him in their ranks.
One on X commented: “Disgusting behaviour… the player power these days is out of this world.”

A second said: “Wissa and Isak both deserve to suffer. I don’t care if Wissa wants to join us. Whilst he’s at Brentford they should punish him left right centre.”
A third added: “Newcastle fans have been consistent that it’s wrong. Liverpool fans pick and choose. Couldn’t care if it was an U21 signing. If you’re under contract and being paid handsomely then you don’t have a leg to stand on.”
Another user stated: “Yeah no, we’re good. Wissa can stay there.”
A final person opined: “Absolutely awful behaviour. I don’t want him at NUFC.”

Brentford boss comments on Wissa latest
Brentford have brought in a new attacker in Dango Ouattara, a club-record £42.5 million capture from Bournemouth, but view him as an Mbuemo replacement rather than Wissa.
Speaking after their 3-1 loss to Forest, new boss Keith Andrews admitted he was in the dark about the latest developments involving Wissa.

“It’s a day-by-day one in terms of Wiss,” he said, as per The Independent.
“As far as I know nothing else has happened today, definitely didn’t yesterday, so as it was really.
“I have no idea what the situation will be, I have been up here since yesterday so we will deal with that during the week.”

Liverpool handed Alexander Isak boost with Newcastle ‘hopeful’ of transfer agreement
A key update in Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
Liverpool have received a boost in their pursuit of Alexander Isak as reporter Craig Hope has dropped a huge update.
Isak continues to be linked with a stunning move to Liverpool as the new Premier League campaign kicked off last Friday.
The Reds opened the new season with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Bournemouth, while the Magpies played out a goalless draw against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Needless to say, the Swede did not travel to Villa Park for his side’s first league game of the season but was subjected to a brutal chant by the travelling Newcastle fans.
Liverpool and Newcastle are both looking to add to their respective squads ahead of the window slamming shut next month.
Of course, Arne Slot is eyeing Isak as he hopes to recruit another forward, having sanctioned the sales of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
Eddie Howe, meanwhile, also wants further reinforcements following the signing of Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, which frustrated Tyrone Mings and John McGinn.

Both Slot and Howe could get the players they want before September 1’s transfer deadline.
According to journalist Hope, Newcastle are still focused on a deal for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and are ‘hopeful of reaching an agreement when talks resume’.
They are also keeping tabs on Paris Saint-Germain forward Goncalo Ramos.

If the club sign Wissa and potentially Ramos, then it would increase the possibility of Isak leaving St. James’ Park this summer.

On X, Hope wrote: “Newcastle still focused on deal for Yoane Wissa & next 24 hours will be key.
“Word over wknd of Brentford sticking to £50m valuation (& reports today that is now £60m).

“NUFC won’t deal at those numbers (PIF simply would not allow it) but are hopeful of reaching agreement when talks resume today.
“They’re still looking for the 2 strikers that would allow them to consider Isak sale (as has been the plan all summer)… Ramos remains an option.
“But if Wissa does not happen, the chances of Isak going reduce significantly.
“NUFC have waited knowing Wissa’s desire, but an outcome either way is needed now.”

Michael Owen once called out Alan Shearer for being ‘inches’ away from leaving Newcastle United amid the ongoing transfer saga involving Alexander Isak.
Isak, who still has three years left on his current deal at St James’ Park, has expressed a desire to make a move away from the Magpies after his best season for the club last campaign – where he scored 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.
The 27-year-old was not involved for Newcastle in their Premier League opener against Aston Villa, which finished goalless at Villa Park.

After the game, Magpies boss Eddie Howe made it clear the club wants a quick resolution to the issue, with Isak strongly linked with a move to Liverpool.
Arne Slot’s side reportedly had a bid worth £110m rejected by Newcastle at the start of August, with the Magpies seeking a higher fee for a player who is the North East club’s record signing when he was bought from Real Sociedad in 2022 for £63m.
It remains unclear where Isak will be playing his football by the time the summer transfer window closes at 7pm on 1 September.

Newcastle legend Shearer has waded into the Isak debate, as the striker is training away from the rest of the Magpies squad after making it clear he wants to leave the club, and the Geordie legend has been critical of the Swede’s approach of seeking a move.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Shearer said: “There is no loyalty [in football] – clubs look after themselves and players look after themselves, but there’s a way of doing things. The way that Alex is doing this at the moment is not the right way.
“You’ve got a guy who played a huge part in one of Newcastle’s best seasons ever, winning the club’s first trophy for 70 years, qualifying again for the Champions League. Yet with three years left on his contract he says he doesn’t want to play here any more.”

Shearer spent a decade at St James Park after moving to his hometown club from Blackburn Rovers for a then world record transfer fee of £15m in 1996.
He went on to score 206 goals in 405 games for the North East club before retiring in 2006.
What did Michael Owen say about Alan Shearer’s loyalty?
Owen was team-mates with Shearer for a season at Newcastle and had previously played together with England.

But Owen once revealed he did not speak with Shearer for four years following a public spat where the latter criticised the former’s book.
And in 2019, Owen called out Shearer for attempting to move to Liverpool himself – just as Isak is trying to do now – and suggested the transfer was ‘inches away’.
Taking to social media platform X in September 2019, Owen said: “Not sure you are as loyal to Newcastle as you make out mate.
“I distinctly remember you being inches away from signing for Liverpool after Sir Bobby Robson put you on the bench. You tried everything to get out.”

Newcastle United face a fresh transfer setback as Alexander Isak’s future continues to rumble on this summer.
The Isak transfer saga has dominated this summer’s window as he hopes to secure a stunning move to Liverpool, who remain in the market for new talent.
The star forward has gone on strike and sat out his side’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Anthony Gordon played as a No.9 at Villa Park and he influenced the game down the middle, getting Ezri Konsa sent off in their goalless draw against Villa.
Gordon spoke to TNT Sports after his role as a striker, with Newcastle fans interrupting his post-match interview as they came up with a derogatory chant about the Swede.
Eddie Howe also spoke after the result as he hopes the Isak situation gets ‘resolved quickly’.
“I hope it’s resolved quickly, because it’s news around us all the time,” he said. “Players have managed to shut that out and perform. We have to continue to do that.”

Clubs in England have until September 1 to finalise their business before the window slams shut.
And Isak isn’t the only Newcastle player being linked with a move away from St. James’ Park.
Manchester City are keeping tabs on Tino Livramento as they look for a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker, who officially departed the Etihad this summer, having spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan.

A move for Livramento could be accelerated if they sell Rico Lewis, who is wanted by Nottingham Forest.
According to The Daily Mail, Forest have set their sights on Lewis, having agreed a deal to sign fellow Man City academy graduate James McAtee.

If Man City sanction the sale of Lewis, then they will likely enter the market for a replacement.
Advert
And they could test Newcastle’s resolve for Livramento should Lewis depart for the City Ground.
Per a report from The Times last month, Man City are prepared to pay £65 million to lure the 22-year-old away from Newcastle, who plan to offer him a new deal to fend off interest.
So, Newcastle could lose both Isak and Livramento before the transfer window closes in what would be a major blow to Eddie Howe and the club.

Newcastle fans interrupt Anthony Gordon interview with x-rated Alexander Isak chant after Aston Villa draw
The Newcastle fans made their feelings towards their star striker clear after the disappointing result.
Newcastle United fans didn’t hold back as they interrupted Anthony Gordon’s post-match interview with a chant hitting out at Alexander Isak.
On Saturday morning, Newcastle United kicked off their 2025/26 Premier League season with an away trip to face Aston Villa.
With star striker Isak currently on strike ahead of his rumoured move to Liverpool, winger Gordon started in the centre of Newcastle’s attack for the match.

Unfortunately for fans of the Geordie club, the 24-year-old wasn’t quite able to live up to the high standards set by Isak last season, and the match ultimately ended as a 0-0 draw.
But Newcastle fans were sure to make their feelings about Gordon, Isak and the ongoing transfer saga as they interrupted the winger’s post-match interview with a brutal chant aimed at Isak.

As it stands, Isak is refusing to train with the Newcastle squad in an attempt to force the club to accept a British record transfer offer from Liverpool, which is expected to arrive before the window closes on September 1.

Understandably, the situation has created tension within St James’ Park, but Gordon appeared to play down the situation when asked about it in his post-match interview on TNT Sports.
Speaking about the Isak saga, Gordon said: “It’s been difficult because we’re such a tight-knit group. We’ve never really had any problems publicly and that’s been the first thing that’s happened – it’s tested us.
“You can see today we’ve still got that spirit and togetherness, we work on it everyday. It’s never going to go regardless of individuals. We’re a top group, our togetherness is top and it always will be. We’re so together anyway,
“I think things like this can battle test you and make you better in the end and I think that will be the case.”
Advert
But it appears that this feeling isn’t shared by the Newcastle fans, as they were heard in the background of Gordon’s interview chanting ‘There’s only one greedy b******’, clearly referencing Isak.

In Isak’s absence, it is expected that Gordon will continue to start as striker for Newcastle, a challenge that the forward is welcoming, despite admitting that he is intially struggling to adapt.
He added: ” I really like it. I feel like as my career progresses, I will end up more central anyway. It’s come a bit earlier than I imagined but I’m really enjoying it. It’ll take some getting used to.”
