Spurs could help new club snatch Alexander Isak away from Liverpool with unexpected windfall
Spurs could inadvertently stop Liverpool from signing Alexander Isak.
Tottenham could help a new club lure Alexander Isak away from Liverpool with an unexpected windfall as a new transfer target has emerged for Thomas Frank.
Clubs in the Premier League are working hard behind the scenes to recruit new players ahead of next month’s transfer deadline.
That includes Liverpool and Spurs, who are both in the market, having already splashed the cash this summer.
As for the North London outfit, they have notably snapped up Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United.
Arne Slot is monitoring Isak’s situation, having had a bid for the star forward rejected by Newcastle United.
But it appears they face competition from Real Madrid, who ‘might be in the frame’, according to Richard Keys.

Discussing Liverpool’s pursuit of Isak, Keys revealed: “I heard today that Liverpool have made a bid of £110m. A second offer of £80m now and £60m next season. Take your pick.
“But I’ve also heard that Real Madrid might be in the frame.”
Well, if Real want to sign the Swede from Newcastle this summer, then they know they’ll have to fork out a fee in the region of £150 million.
But their budget for a potential Isak push could be funded by Spurs, who are considering a move for Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo, according to Fichajes.

Sociedad signed Kubo from Real on a permanent deal in the summer of 2022.
According to Marca, Kubo has a release clause of €60 million (£52 million) in his contract.
And Real retain 50 per cent of the player’s rights and would thus receive a cool €30 million (£26 million) if his release clause is triggered.

So, if Spurs activate Kubo’s release clause, then they would inadvertently help generate funds for Real’s potential chase for Isak.
Whether Xabi Alonso wants to add a forward to his squad this summer remains to be seen.
He currently boasts Kylian Mbappe, Endrick and Gonzalo García.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are looking to sign another forward, having sanctioned the sales of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, not to mention the passing of Diogo Jota.

Liverpool handed Alexander Isak boost with Newcastle ‘hopeful’ of transfer agreement
A key update in Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
Liverpool have received a boost in their pursuit of Alexander Isak as reporter Craig Hope has dropped a huge update.
Isak continues to be linked with a stunning move to Liverpool as the new Premier League campaign kicked off last Friday.
The Reds opened the new season with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Bournemouth, while the Magpies played out a goalless draw against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Needless to say, the Swede did not travel to Villa Park for his side’s first league game of the season but was subjected to a brutal chant by the travelling Newcastle fans.
Liverpool and Newcastle are both looking to add to their respective squads ahead of the window slamming shut next month.
Of course, Arne Slot is eyeing Isak as he hopes to recruit another forward, having sanctioned the sales of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
Eddie Howe, meanwhile, also wants further reinforcements following the signing of Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, which frustrated Tyrone Mings and John McGinn.

Both Slot and Howe could get the players they want before September 1’s transfer deadline.
According to journalist Hope, Newcastle are still focused on a deal for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and are ‘hopeful of reaching an agreement when talks resume’.
They are also keeping tabs on Paris Saint-Germain forward Goncalo Ramos.

If the club sign Wissa and potentially Ramos, then it would increase the possibility of Isak leaving St. James’ Park this summer.

On X, Hope wrote: “Newcastle still focused on deal for Yoane Wissa & next 24 hours will be key.
“Word over wknd of Brentford sticking to £50m valuation (& reports today that is now £60m).
Advert
“NUFC won’t deal at those numbers (PIF simply would not allow it) but are hopeful of reaching agreement when talks resume today.
“They’re still looking for the 2 strikers that would allow them to consider Isak sale (as has been the plan all summer)… Ramos remains an option.
“But if Wissa does not happen, the chances of Isak going reduce significantly.
“NUFC have waited knowing Wissa’s desire, but an outcome either way is needed now.”

They have confirmed the squad numbers for the 2025/26 season, with Isak receiving a shirt number even though he has asked to leave St. James’ Park.

But the club have also sanctioned the sales of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, with Diogo Jota sadly passing away last month.

Liverpool have identified a ‘wild card’ target should they fail to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, according to stunning reports.
Liverpool have recruited heavily this summer, signing Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, who cost a club-record £116 million, and Milos Kerkez.
Not to mention Hugo Ekitike, who made a big impression in his new side’s friendly win over Athletic Bilbao on Monday.

Despite the signing of Ekitike, Liverpool remain in the market for further attacking additions, including Isak, who has informed Newcastle that he wants to explore his options this summer.
The Swede has since returned to Newcastle’s training ground, having had a solo trip at Real Sociedad to recover from his thigh injury.
Even though Isak has been strongly linked with a move away from St. James’ Park, he has been backed to stay at the club ahead of the new season.

If Liverpool are unable to strike a deal with Newcastle for Isak, then they’ll turn their attention to ‘wild card’ target Rodrygo.
But the Reds face competition from Tottenham, who view him as an ideal replacement for Son Heung-min, who is set to join Los Angeles FC.
That’s according to Spanish outlet Marca as they claim Liverpool have always considered Rodrygo as a ‘wild card’ if negotiations with Newcastle hit a wall.
Real Madrid have already received contact from ‘several intermediaries’ exploring the star forward’s asking price.

‘Agents’ close to Spurs claim that they have already proposed an initial offer to the La Liga giants and are aware awaiting a response.

Rodrygo has been on the books at Real since June 2019 after they struck a pre-contract agreement with Santos in 2018.
He has made 270 appearances across all competitions and has scored 68 goals.
Rodrygo has already agreed personal terms with a Premier League club
Several clubs are circling for Rodrygo, who has already agreed personal terms with a team in view to leaving Real.

According to ESPN Brazil, Liverpool have already made contact with the player and his agent ahead of a making their first formal bid.
Journalist Siro Lopez claimed that these talks have led to the 24-year-old agreeing personal terms with the Anfield outfit, writing: “Liverpool have spoken to the entourage of Rodrygo, and the Real Madrid forward has approved an informal offer of personal terms.”

Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Alexander Isak as the club are set to receive a huge £25 million cash injection.
The Isak transfer saga continues to rumble on just hours ahead of the Premier League opener, which sees Liverpool kick-off the season against Bournemouth.
The Reds have recruited heavily this summer, snapping up the likes of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, who cost a combined £169 million in up-front fees.

Despite the acquisition of the attacking pair, Arne Slot remains in the market for another forward, having sanctioned the sales of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, not to mention the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.
Isak is the club’s No.1 choice as rumours continue to swirl ahead of the window slamming shut next month.

The Magpies were also insistent on signing a replacement but they are now considering a scenario that was considered unthinkable before.
Liverpool’s pursuit of the Swedish star has received a further boost as the Premier League champions are closing in on the departure of Ben Doak.
According to The Guardian, Bournemouth are on the verge of getting a deal done for Doak worth a cool £25 million.
Paul Joyce claims Doak, 19, has been withdrawn from the Liverpool squad for tonight’s game against Bournemouth.

His proposed transfer means Liverpool have extra money to play around with as they are set to return to Newcastle with another bid for Isak.
An offer of £135 million, which would be the cost of Doak on top of their first bid, could be enough to lure the 25-year-old away from St. James’ Park.

Will Alexander Isak play for Newcastle United in their Premier League opener?
Newcastle begin their league campaign on Saturday when they travel to Villa Park to face Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
Advert
But Isak won’t play a part of his side’s first league match of the 2025/26 campaign.
He has been training away from the first-team after informing the club that he wants to explore his options during the transfer window.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Eddie Howe said: “We do [have to forget about Isak] – he’s not here with us.
“We have to focus on who is here and get the best out of them. The players are aware he’s not here, the focus will be on each player playing to the best of their ability.”
Advert
He added: “I want him to play. I want him to train. I’ve had those conversations [with Isak] but the details of those will remain private.
“There is no change to the situation. All my focus has been on the training, Aston Villa and the transfer front in terms of getting players in – that is all-consuming for me. Alex’s situation has been unchanged for a while and that will continue to be the case.”
