Rangers sent strong Russell Martin warning after club brugge battering

Be careful what you wish for

Simon Jordan has warned Rangers not to sack Russell Martin despite his dreadful start as manager.

Martin has won just three of his ten matches with the Gers, with their latest result being a 6-0 drubbing by Club Brugge.

Pressure is already mounting on the ex-Southampton boss ahead of the Old Firm derby against Celtic this weekend.

But talkSPORT’s Jordan believes he needs more time in the Rangers dugout to implement change.

“The dye had been cast when he walked in the door,” he said on White and Jordan.

“There was a significant section of the Rangers fanbase that were completely unaroused by this appointment and had no truck with it.

“We’ve created, we being the global media, have created a narrative around Russell Martin, that he only plays one way, and that he wasn’t able to pivot.

“And he was right to have that accusation made against him at the time with Southampton.

“But we don’t know whether he’s changed or not. He’s walked in there, he’s trying to implement change into a football club.

“And if you’re seriously telling me that ten games is all he gets, then Rangers will get what they deserve, which is the next manager suffering from the same malaise.”
